This session will bring together General Counsels from multilateral development banks (MDBs) and international financial institutions (IFIs) to exploring the role of law, lawyers, and legal institutions in creating and supporting innovative solutions to development challenges. The discussion will address how this role must adapt in difficult and complex environments and in the context of rapid technological advancements.

The perspectives of the General Counsels of these organizations will spotlight pioneering ideas to protect the rule of law under increasing threat and to employ legal tools to enhance development outcomes by discussing both recent innovations in the legal sector and the risks associated with such developments. The discussion will also encompass new ideas and strategies for collaboration among development actors.
