The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Karachi Mobility Project – Yellow Line BRT (KMP-YL BRT) and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward procurement under this project.
To enhance market participation, improve transparency, and encourage competitive bidding under Packages 3 and 5 of the KMP-YL BRT project, Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) will conduct a Roadshow / Early Market Engagement to introduce the project to prospective international and local contractors.

The KMP-YL BRT is a 21-kilometer third-generation Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor, designed to serve over 300,000 passengers per day across Karachi. The project, with an estimated cost of USD 450 million (including a World Bank loan of USD 382 million), includes civil infrastructure (stations, roadworks, flyovers, utilities, drainage, and more), construction supervision by Dar Al-Handasah and NESPAK, and PPP-based electric bus procurement.

Objective: The purpose of the roadshow/ early market engagement plan is to:

  • Introduce project packages and bidding opportunities under KMP
  • Clarify World Bank procurement procedures, major technical design and specification requirements, and qualification criteria
  • Increase competition by engaging with global infrastructure firms
  • Foster transparency and address technical and procurement-related queries
