On July 22, 2025, the World Bank Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Finance Hub launched the Inclusive Employment Practices Report. The event and the report were officiated by Yang Berhormat Steven Sim, Minister of Human Resources (KESUMA). The Report was based on an inaugural study which explored how Malaysian firms are supporting women and caregivers in the workplace. From flexible work to childcare benefits, the findings offer insights into what works, where challenges lie, and how both policy and practice can evolve to foster a more inclusive and productive workforce.
In his officiating remarks, the Minister expressed his appreciation for the World Bank’s efforts in producing the report, noting its role in raising awareness among policymakers, the private sector, and the Malaysian public, with the aim of collectively advancing toward a more inclusive workforce.
There were more than 150 participants representing various ministries, government agencies, academia, think tanks, UN Agencies, Embassies, NGOs, private companies and members of media – namely, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), Bank Negara Malaysia, SME Corp, TalentCorp, University Malaya, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, ISIS, IDEAS, PNB Research Institute, SERI, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNHCR, ECCE Council and Childline Foundation.
