On February 13, the Japan Chapter of the Parliamentary Network of World Bank, or PNoWB Japan, chaired by Takeaki Matsumoto, exchanged views with Victoria Kwakwa, World Bank Vice President, Eastern and Southern Africa. With Secretary General Masahiro Komura acting as a facilitator, 13 parliamentarians were present at the meeting, where Vice President Kwakwa expressed appreciation for the Japanese contribution to the 21st replenishment of the International Development Association or IDA21, and gave a brief summary on various challenges Africa faces, including debts, infrastructure, health and education, as well as the World Bank‘s work to address them, followed by dynamic discussions with the participants.
Also present at the meeting were officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Government of Japan.
