The Reproducible Research Fundamentals course is designed to teach the best practices for reproducible research. Participants will learn how to implement transparent and reproducible workflows, to effectively code in a team environment, and to keep personal data secure throughout the lifecycle of a research project.

The course will run from October 3 to October 7, 2022  in a hybrid format. Those based in Washington, DC, may express interest for an in-person spot (space is limited). It will use a combination of lectures, hands-on practice exercises, and panel discussions. All lectures and discussions will be streamed to allow for virtual participation.

Through the course, participants will learn:

  • Why reproducibility matters in development economics research
  • How to use GitHub for effective and transparent collaboration
  • Programming 101
  • How to effectively manage, clean and tidy raw datasets
  • Best practices for indicator construction and data analysis
  • Principles for working with personal data
  • How to create reproducible research outputs

Most content is software and platform agnostic, but participants are expected to be familiar with either Stata or R.  By the end of the course, participants will have the tools and knowledge to implement best practices for transparent and reproducible research.

The deadline to register is September 19, 2022.

Note: The course charge is $550 per participant. Registrants will be asked to register on OLC.
