  • This panel is one in a series of events designed to explore themes from the newly released World Development Report (WDR) 2021: Data for Better Lives and coincides with the release of the background report, Unraveling Data’s Gordian’s Knot: Enablers and Safeguards for Data Sharing in the New Economy. This discussion with leaders from countries and companies around the globe, will explore a central premise that data sharing and use is of critical importance to realizing the development potential of data and ensuring diverse stakeholders benefit. We hope to explore the limits of data sharing/use and what safeguards are ensuring people have trust and agency in the data economy.

The production of the Unraveling Data’s Gordian Knot report was generously supported by the Digital Development Partnership (DDP). DDP offers a platform for digital innovation and development financing, bringing public and private sector partners together to advance digital solutions and drive digital transformation in developing countries.
