  • We are pleased to invite you to participate in the launch of the April 2021 Pakistan Development Update: Navigating in Uncertain Times. The launch will take place on Tuesday, 6th April 2021 from 2:30 pm - Pakistan time - and will be streamed via social media.

    The Pakistan Development Update (PDU) is the World Bank Pakistan flagship report that discusses the latest macroeconomic developments and policy issues that are critical to the country’s long-term economic development. This edition of the report focuses on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on private sector in Pakistan and the way forward. The launch of the report is a prominent forum for the public dialogue on Pakistan’s economic outlook and policies for sustained and inclusive development.

  • The launch will include presentations on the macro-fiscal update and the impact of COVID-19 on the private sector. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed (Economic Advisor, Finance Division). The panelists for the discussion on the impact of COVID-19 on the private sector will include: Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput (Special Secretary, Commerce Division); Mr. Almas Hyder (Chairman, Synthetic Products Enterprise), and Dr Waseem Shahid Malik (Associate Professor of Economics at Quaid-e-Azam University).
