  • The World Bank in Egypt is holding the DigitalAG4Egypt Challenge Awards Ceremony today.

Ten finalists will be presenting their innovative ICT solutions to a wide audience of policy makers, sector specialists and relevant stakeholders.

There will be five winning teams. Three of which, will be awarded seed funding (90,000 LE) and incubation by NilePreneurs, and two others will be provided with acceleration support from Egypt’s Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC)

The DigitalAG4Egypt Challenge was launched on May 9th 2018, with the aim of crowd sourcing innovative ICT solutions, tailored to raising the efficiency of the agricultural markets in Egypt. The digital solutions were sought in three areas: Access to Markets and Services; Access to Finance; and Natural Resource Management. This challenge attracted 287 young people (forming 107 teams) from 21 Governorates.

The World Bank team partnered with NilePreneurs and TIEC, to conduct technical training and host a three-day interactive boot camp for 28 shortlisted teams. Once this training was complete, the team did a second tier of evaluations, and shortlisted the final 10 solutions, which are pitching their ideas at the awards ceremony today.
