Catalyzing an Agriculture-led Transformation for Food Security and Wealth Creation in Eurasia

  • The Annual Eurasian Food Security Conference will take place on October 3-5 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The event is organized by the Eurasian Center for Food Security (ECFS), the World Bank, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).

    The World Bank is providing support in organizing the event, including identifying and attracting international experts and speakers. The theme of this year’s conference is “Catalyzing an Agriculture-led Transformation for Food Security and Wealth Creation in Eurasia”. This event is an excellent platform to discuss policy research priorities for improving food and nutrition security in the Eurasian region.

    Bringing together key agri-food sector stakeholders, food policy experts, representatives of academia, donor organizations and civil society, the Conference provides a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation at local, regional and global levels.

    The Conference sessions focus on the following issues:

    • Priorities for policy research to improve food security and nutrition in Eurasia;
    • Innovative interventions both by the government and the private sector that help boost food and nutrition security at household and community levels;
    • Natural resource management (including soil management) for food security;
    • Case studies on food security in Eurasia.
