DRM and Cultural Heritage Workshop and Symposium in Kyoto

    On September 16, 2017, the World Bank Tokyo Disaster Risk Management Hub (DRM Hub), through the Japan World-Bank Program for Mainstreaming DRM, organized the Resilient Cultural Heritage Knowledge Program Kick-Off Workshop on the sidelines of the UNESCO Chair on Disaster Risk Management of Cultural Heritage International Symposium “Working Internationally toward the Integrated Protection of Cultural Heritage from Disasters” at Ritsumeikan University (R-DMUCH) in Kyoto.                                            

    An advisory panel, including representatives of MEXT, Hyogo Prefecture, Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, JICA, ICCROM, World Bank practitioners, among other partners provided input and feedback on a series of knowledge notes capturing good practices in Japan’s institutional frameworks, hands-on management of cultural heritage sites from risk identification to post-disaster recovery, and community engagement approaches.
