Industry 4.0 – Envisioning Transport of the Future, Learning from Korea’s Experience

  • Rooted in the manufacturing field, ‘Industry 4.0’ refers to the coming of the fourth industrial revolution – marrying manufacturing with new technologies, data and enhanced services. The impacts of this revolution are wide-ranging, spanning various sectors including transport. Already present around us, are examples of advanced mobile information technology infrastructure, data management technologies, and real time analytics, transforming the way we perceive, leverage and interact with transport systems of today. 

    In this iteration of the World Bank – Korea Transport Institute (KOTI) Workshop, participants learned how Korea is already leading the way in applying this concept to build transport systems of the future. Leading experts from the World Bank discussed global trends in digital economy and how key achievements and lessons distilled from these experiences can be applied in the context of developing client countries.
