President Kim engages with MPs in Norway

  • World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim met with members of the Norwegian Parliament in Oslo. The meeting with members of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee as well as the Finance Committee was chaired by Ms. Marit Nybakk, First Vice-President of the Parliament. Discussion amongst others revolved around rising global aspirations and the need to create new jobs, efforts to address climate change, and innovative financing, including the role the World Bank Group could play in de-risking infrastructure investments in developing countries and thereby making such investments attractive for long-term institutional investors. President Jim Yong Kim also discussed the World Bank Group’s work on gender, and he commended Norway for its long-standing focus on and support to education and global health, both through generous contributions and innovative approaches.
