On April 15, join Shanta Devarajan, Chief Economist for the Africa Region, for a video press conference, as we launch the latest edition of Africa’s Pulse, a twice-yearly analysis of the issues shaping Africa’s economic prospects.
The report forecasts that economic growth in Sub-Saharan Africa is likely to reach more than 5 percent on average in 2013-2015 but also notes that more of a decade of strong growth hasn’t necessarily translated into poverty reduction.
We will discuss how mineral wealth, elevated food prices, rapid urbanization and a demographic dividend hold the promise of accelerating poverty reduction on the continent.
