On May 6-7, 2025, a World Bank team carried out in-person consultations with representatives from government, academia, private sector, civil society, and international partners on the preliminary findings of the Country Economic Memorandum (CEM) on Growth and Jobs for North Macedonia. The CEM is a flagship study for the World Bank to understand the economic context of a country and identify key policy reforms and development interventions that would boost growth and job creation.
The CEM for North Macedonia is exploring the country’s convergence prospects with the EU; barriers to unlocking private sector growth and job creation; as well as defining pathways to strengthen potential growth through productivity enhancement, labor participation and skills, trade openness, competition, and technology adoption and innovation.
