Road crash deaths and injuries in Nepal have been on a sharp upward trajectory since the early 2000s, with two- or three-wheeler users one of the leading fatality groups. Road crashes are a leading cause of death among young adults, taking an enormous toll on the economic and human capital development of the country.
In this milieu, Nepal’s Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and the World Bank jointly launched a road safety campaign to promote helmet use and engage young people, policy makers and key stakeholders on Nepal’s road safety agenda.
The campaign is a part of the World Bank’s ongoing advocacy on road safety and included a suite of broadcast and social media activities to reinforce helmet use as a critical road safety priority, promote safe behaviors among young people, and highlight critical road safety challenges and solutions in Nepal.
