Zinga Venner, a Saint Lucian National, is the Vice President and World Bank Group Controller since October 1, 2025. She is an experienced chartered accountant and finance professional with over 30 years of combined experience working with the WBG and in public accounting.
As the WBG Controller, Ms. Venner leads a global team of finance and accounting professionals and is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the financial operations across the WBG entities, including the accounting, servicing and administration of the loan, equity investments, guarantees, and short-term finance portfolios.
She also plays a key role in safeguarding the triple-A credit ratings of the three-rated WBG entities by leading statutory and management reporting, accounting policy, internal controls, and corporate accounting services of the WBG entities and their extensive trust fund portfolios. Ms. Venner is recognized for her collaboration and delivery of high-quality financial information, and enhanced technology-enabled client services.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Venner was the Director and Controller of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the WBG entity that supports the private sector in developing countries. She was responsible for leadership and oversight of IFC’s financial operations covering over $67 billion of loans, equity investments, and debt securities, as well as treasury operations covering over $40 billion of liquid assets and over $70 billion of borrowings. She was also responsible for IFC’s statutory and management reporting, accounting policy and internal control framework.
From 2020 to 2023, Ms. Venner was the Director of the Financial Operations within the World Bank Controllership, providing corporate accounting services for the WBG entities. Prior to this role, she held corporate reporting roles of increasing seniority within the World Bank Controllership, expanding her breadth of experience and expertise
Before joining the World Bank in April 2000, Ms. Venner worked in the Audit and Assurance practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers. She holds the Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst, Financial Risk Manager, and Chartered Global Management Accountant designations. She also has an MBA in Accounting and Finance and is an alumna of the Harvard Business School.
Ms. Venner has played an active role in the external standards setting arena. She represented the WBG on the International Financial Reporting Standards Advisory Council and the International Professional Practices Framework Oversight Council for the Institute of Internal Auditors. She also represented the WBG on the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) and was the co-chair of the IIRC’s Special Interest Group on Integrated Thinking & Strategy.
