Susiana Iskandar is the World Bank’s Senior Education Specialist for the Indonesia Human Development program. She has held this position since 2005. Holding a double Masters degree in both Sociology and Education from Stanford University, Ms. Iskandar has been with the World Bank since 1998, where she has planned, implemented and evaluated a variety of education projects. She has extensive experience with all the major sub-sectors of the Indonesian education system, ranging from early childhood education and development, basic education, higher education, skills and vocational education to teacher management and reform.

She is currently also working in Timor Leste to help develop and execute effective policies, manage resources and improve learning conditions in basic education. Prior to joining the World Bank, she was a staff member of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture’s Planning Division in the West Java Provincial Office. Before joining the Ministry, she was a high-school teacher in Bandung, Indonesia.
