Stefano Curto is the Manager of the Global Unit for Fiscal Policy at the World Bank, overseeing a team that supports the design of fiscal strategies that promote sustainable development, foster economic growth, improve the efficiency of public expenditures, and boost domestic revenue mobilization.
He previously led macroeconomic teams across Western Africa, Europe and Central Asia, as well as Latin America and the Caribbean. He has supported country teams with Development Policy Operations, managed the Country Policy and Institutional Assessment, and served as a secretary of the World Bank’s Middle-Income Countries and Small States Forums. He also coordinated analytical support for major international meetings, including those of the G7, G20, APEC, and United Nations.
Prior to joining the World Bank, he worked at the European Central Bank and the Overseas Development Institute. He holds degrees from the University of Rome, University of Glasgow, and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.
