Stefano Mocci


Mr. Mocci joined the World Bank Group in October 2000 through the Young Professionals Program, where he began working on institutional development. He has since held various positions across the World Bank Group, most recently as Manager of the Gender Group, the World Bank’s central unit tasked with setting and monitoring the implementation of the World Bank’s Gender strategy.

Mr. Mocci has held field-based posts both in middle-income countries and fragile, conflict and violence-affected states. He served as Senior Country Officer and Senior Operations Officer in the Middle East and North Africa Region, where he oversaw the quality and delivery of the World Bank’s program, maintaining close relationships with national authorities and key stakeholders in West Bank and Gaza; Lebanon, Jordan and Syria.

From 2005 to 2006, Mr. Mocci served as Special Assistant and Advisor to James Wolfensohn, the Quartet (made up of the United Nations, United States, Russian Federation and European Union)’s Envoy for the Middle East Peace Process.

Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Mr. Mocci worked as Governance Program Officer at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Mr. Mocci, an Italian national, holds a Laurea degree (Master’s level) in Political Sciences / International Relations from the University of Trieste in Italy.
