Sergio Jose de Mesquita Gomes is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist in the Financial Inclusion and Consumer Protection Team (part of the Finance, Competitiveness & Innovation Global Practice) at the World Bank.
Sergio is an experienced former financial services supervisor and at the World Bank he works primarily on market conduct supervision, financial consumer protection regulation and policy, financial inclusion and consumer issues relating to fintech and digital financial services.
Prior to joining the World Bank Sergio was a Head of Division of the Conduct Supervision Department at the Central Bank of Brazil. Sergio worked on the development of risk-based framework methodologies, and on a wide range of supervisory activities in prudential, market conduct and enforcement contexts. Sergio also previously worked as a management consultant specializing in corporate social responsibility, social accountability, sustainability reporting and community affairs.
