Pedro Fonseca

Pedro Fonseca, Alternate Executive Director from Angola since November 2024. Prior to joining the WBG Board, Mr. Fonseca served as Chairman of the Board of Directors with Banco de Comercio e Industria and Banco Economico (2019-2024).

He was also Minister of Economy and Planning (2017-2019); State Secretary of Planning and Territorial Development (2012-2017) and Deputy Minister of Planning (2007-2012). Earlier in his career, Mr. Fonseca was the National Director of Studies and Planning (1998-2007) and National Director of Economic Planning (1996-1997) with the Ministry of Planning. He also worked at the Angolan Trade Ministry as National Director of Internacional Economics Relations and Trade National Director (1988-1994).
