Mónica Medina, a Peruvian national, is an Executive Director at the World Bank Group (WBG), representing the constituency of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay since November 1, 2020.
Ms. Medina is an economist with over 30 years of experience in the public sector. Prior to joining the WBG Board, Ms. Medina was Chief of Staff for the Ministry of Economy and Finance for two terms (2017-2020) and in the Ministry of Education (2013-2016). She also held the same position in the Prime Minister’s Office and acted as General Secretary (2018-2019). Ms. Medina is also part of Peru’s Central Bank (BCRP) since 1988, working in the following Divisions: Economic Studies and Financial and Monetary Operations. Ms. Medina was a member of the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) of Peru since 2017. She was also a representative for the Ministry of Education in the Board of Directors of the National Industrial Training Service (SENATI).
Ms. Medina holds a Master in Administration, B.A in Social Sciences with mention in Economics, with studies in banking and finance in the United States of America, France, Mexico and Peru.
