Manuel Reyes-Retana serves as IFC’s Division Director for Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, overseeing the implementation of IFC’s strategy and operations, including investment and advisory.
With 18 years of experience in the financial sector, Manuel has dedicated his career to supporting development in emerging markets through various roles at IFC. Before joining the Latin America and the Caribbean team in 2022, he was the Director for the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in Africa. From 2015 to 2019, he led IFC’s FIG business in Europe, Central Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East. As a Portfolio Manager based in Moscow from 2011 to 2015, he managed IFC’s investment portfolio in the financial sector in Central and Eastern Europe.
Prior to his tenure at IFC, Manuel worked for Banamex-Citibank in Mexico City, where he held positions in Trade Finance, Corporate Banking, Structured Finance, and Strategic.
Manuel holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
