Kenichi Nishikata serves as the Alternate Executive Director for Japan at the World Bank Group (WBG) since July 2017. Previously, he held the position of Senior Advisor to the Executive Director for Japan from 2006 to 2009.
Mr. Nishikata joined the Ministry of Finance (MOF), Japan, in 1996. Since then he held various leadership positions in the national public administration in different capacities, including Advisor to the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office (2015-2017); Director of the Office of Policy Planning, Ministerial Secretariat, MOF, (2013-2015); Principal Deputy Director of the Office for International Tax Policy, Tax Bureau, MOF (2010-2013); Deputy Director at the Planning and Coordination Div. Tax Bureau (2009-2010); Deputy Director at the Legislation and Planning Div., Financial Services Agency (2004-2006); Deputy Director at the International Criminal Affairs Div., Ministry of Justice (2002-2004); Section Chief, Office of the Vice Minister for International Affairs, MOF (2000-2002); Fiscal Investment and Loan Program Division, MOF, Tokyo (1996-1998).
Mr. Nishikata earned an MPhil in Land Economy, Cambridge University, Cambridge in 2000; an MSc in Public Policy, University College London, in 2000; a Bachelor's of Law, Tokyo University, Japan in 1996.
