Katarzyna Zajdel-Kurowska is the Director of the World Bank Group Treasury’s Partnerships and Advisory Department. In this role, she oversees the World Bank Group’s Reserve Advisory & Management Partnership (RAMP) program, which provides asset management and advisory services to public asset management institutions worldwide.
Ms. Zajdel-Kurowska has more than 25 years of experience across the public and private sectors, including senior roles in international, domestic, and multilateral financial institutions. From 2018 to 2022, she served as Executive Director and Alternate Executive Director at the World Bank. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, she was a member of the Management Board of the National Bank of Poland, where she oversaw risk management and reserve asset management.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Zajdel-Kurowska held several senior government positions in Poland. From 2009 to 2012, she served as Alternate Executive Director and Poland’s representative on the IMF’s Executive Board. She was Deputy Minister of Finance from 2007 to 2009, with responsibility for economic and financial policy, public debt management, and financial market regulation. During this period, she also served on multiple national and European financial bodies, including the Financial Stability Committee, the State Guarantees Committee (as Chair), the Banking Supervision Commission (as Deputy Chair), the Supervisory Board of the Banking Guarantee Fund, the Economic and Financial Committee in Brussels, and the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank.
Before entering public service, Ms. Zajdel-Kurowska was Chief Economist and Head of Treasury Research for Central and Eastern Europe at Citibank Handlowy. She has also served as an independent member of the Supervisory Board of ING Bank Śląski and as an advisor to the CEO of the Polish Development Fund.
Ms. Zajdel-Kurowska holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Warsaw.
