Jung Ryun Byun

J. Sophie Byun is a Korean national who joined the Regulatory Efficiency team in 2024. She co-leads the Property Transfer topic in European Union countries and coordinates with the Global Business Ready team on this area. Byun brings seven years of experience across the World Bank Group, with deep expertise in evaluating the economic and development impacts of infrastructure and microfinance. She has also contributed to several annual reports analyzing private investment flows in low- and middle-income countries. She holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University. Ms. Byun speaks Korean and French.
