Johan A. Mistiaen is the World Bank Group Country Manager for Niger since February 1st, 2026. Before his current appointment, he served as Practice Manager for the Poverty & Equity Global Practice in West and Central Africa (AFW), based in Dakar, Senegal. Since joining the World Bank Group in 2004, he has held several leadership positions, including Program Leader for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions (EFI) for the Kenya Country Management Unit in Nairobi and the Senegal Country Management Unit in Dakar. Mr. Mistiaen holds degrees in biology, economics, and statistics from the University of York (UK) and the University of Maryland (USA).
