Giovanni Tonutti is a Data Scientist at the World Bank Development Data Group where he works on data compilation and the estimation of Purchasing Power Parities (PPPs) for the International Comparison Program (ICP) and the Food Prices for Nutrition project.

His research focuses on quantitative studies related to international development statistics, subnational spatial consumer price indexes, poverty and social policy.

Before joining the World Bank, Giovanni worked as a Data and Policy Analyst at Policy in Practice, a London-based public-sector consultancy and policy think tank specializing in welfare and social policy analysis.

He holds a Ph.D. in Data Science from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy, a bachelor’s degree in Politics with Economics from the University of Bath, UK, and a postgraduate degree in Public Policy from University College London, also in the UK.

Giovanni is also a member of the Camillo Dagum Centre of Advanced Statistics for Equitable and Sustainable Development.
