Chihiro Fujimoto


Chihiro is a financial officer in the Debt Capital Market & Investments Department, where she is responsible for broad range currencies and markets, including Australia and New Zealand. She was on the team that issued the world's first bond through blockchain technology.

Additionally, Chihiro manages the implementation of the new liquidity management system. Her interest is expanding sustainable/social responsibility and engages investors with their impacts on investment and strategies.

She has over 15 years in financial markets – including the area of capital markets, monetary policy, and FX market.  Prior to joining the World Bank in 2013, she held various positions in the Central Bank of Japan for eight years, including executing interventions in the foreign currency markets, providing an economic analysis of Asian, British and US economies and markets.

Originally from Japan, she holds a master's degree in Advanced Studies in International Affairs, University of California, San Diego, where she concentrated on Financial Institutions, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental and Regulatory Economics, Cooperate Strategy and the Environment.
