Alemayehu Ambel

Senior Economist, Development Data Group

Alemayehu Ambel is a Senior Economist for the Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS), the World Bank’s flagship household survey program housed at the Development Data Group. His research interests include survey methods, early childhood nutrition and health systems. As a member of the Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) team, he has expertise in survey instrument development, field operations, and data quality control and analysis. He works on household, facility and time use surveys.

Alemayehu holds a M.Sc. in Economic Policy Analysis from Addis Ababa University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Western Michigan University.

    Living Standards Measurement Study

    The Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) and the Living Standards Measurement Study-Integrated Surveys on Agriculture (LSMS-ISA) were established to explore ways of improving the type and quality of household data collected by statistical offices in developing countries. The goal is to foster increased use of household data as a basis for policy decisionmaking.
