Executive Director Harold Tavares conducted an official visit to the Republic of Guinea from June 2 to 3, 2025.

The main objective of the visit was to gather the authorities’ views on the country’s development priorities, with a view to strengthening Guinea’s representation at the World Bank Group Board of Executive Directors. Discussions also focused on the ongoing finalization of the new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) and the proposed budget support operation.

During the exchanges, the Executive Director emphasized the importance of national ownership of the new strategic framework. He encouraged the authorities to ensure the inclusion of key priority areas aligned with Guinea’s development agenda, including resilience (infrastructure and climate), human capital development (health and education), economic diversification (agriculture, mining, and private sector development), and macroeconomic reforms.

Finally, during this visit, the Executive Director took the opportunity to engage with the local World Bank Group staff. During this interaction, he shared ongoing institutional reforms, especially those benefiting staff. He also expressed his support for the construction of a local office headquarters and extended his gratitude to the staff for their efforts in strengthening the relationship between the Republic of Guinea and the World Bank Group.
