During the 2025 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washington, D.C., the Executive Director for Africa Group II (EDS13), Mr. Harold Tavares welcomed Governors and delegations from the 23 member countries for high-level bilateral discussions. These meetings provided an opportunity to review national priorities, ongoing reforms, and prospects for enhanced collaboration with the WBG.
Discussions focused on key themes such as aligning partnerships with national priorities, enhancing fiscal resilience through Development Policy Operations (DPOs), and creating quality jobs — a central focus of these Meetings. Additionally, the ambitions of IDA21, particularly for fragile and small states, and the “Mission 300” initiative aimed at expanding energy access to 300 million people across Sub-Saharan Africa were highlighted.
Mr. Tavares and his team reaffirmed their commitment to working alongside member countries to strengthen partnership effectiveness, mobilize additional resources, and accelerate development impact in pursuit of shared prosperity.
