Executive Director Nathalie Francken and Czech Senior Advisor Martin Kratochvil attended the EDS10 Constituency Meeting, hosted by the Czech Ministry of Finance and the Czech National Bank in Prague from June 25–27, 2026. In addition to productive discussions on constituency matters, the meeting provided participants with a valuable opportunity to exchange views with Martin Raiser, World Bank Senior Representative for European Economic Cooperation, and Marjeta Jager, Deputy Director-General of DG INTPA at the European Commission.
Among the key messages, Martin Raiser emphasized the need for Europe to increase investment in infrastructure and support reforms that facilitate greater economic integration, particularly across its neighboring regions. Marjeta Jager underscored Europe's role as a steadfast and strategic partner in international development, contributing not only substantial financial resources but also expertise in development policy, strong support for multilateral institutions, and leadership in advancing global priorities such as climate action, gender equality, and health.
The Prague constituency meeting was followed by the Executive Director’s visit of the World Bank Group office in Vienna, Austria. The office plays a central role in advancing development across Europe - particularly the Western Balkans - and parts of Central Asia by providing technical expertise, policy advice, financing, and private-sector investment support. It also hosts the Vienna Development Knowledge Center and several flagship advisory programs that strengthen financial systems, digital government, water management, and climate resilience.
