RESOURCE PERSONSProf. Victor E. Tan Professor Victor Tan is the Don Jose Yulo Professor in Business Management and currently, the Associate Dean of the Institute's Center for Development Management. Professor Tan teaches operations management, total quality management, quantitative analysis, program and project management, service delivery, and development management in the Institute's Master in Development Management (MDM) Program, Master in Business Management (MBM) Program, and Executive Education (ExecEd) Programs including management development programs of leading companies in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. He coordinates and facilitates courses, seminars, and workshops for government and non-government agencies. For four years prior to his graduate studies, he was a research associate of the Rural Development Management Program of AIM, doing field research, writing field notes, systems studies and cases, and assisting the Communal Irrigation Committee of the National Irrigation Administration in some projects. He was involved in the study of the management of non-government organizations (NGOs) involved in development and the study of the management issues involved in the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program in the Philippines. To this end, he participated, designed and conducted seminars and workshops and other action research activities for a variety of local and international NGOs as well as for the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) of the Philippines and other Philippine government agencies. He was the coordinator of an AIM action research project on the formulation and implementation of a strategy for the Philippine Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program and the provision of genera l management services for the DAR and the Tripartite Partnership for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (TriPARRD). He also writes development management cases. He has provided private consultancy services for government agencies, NGOs, business corporations and foreign funding agencies like USAID and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in the areas of strategic planning, management training, and project evaluation. He obtained his BS degree in Management Engineering (magna cum laude) at the Ateneo de Manila University. Professor Tan graduated in 1986 from the Master in Business Management Program where he was a consistent AIM scholar and dean's lister. Prof. Victor E. TAN |
