RESOURCE PERSONSProf. Tomas B. LOPEZ, MM Professor Tomas B. Lopez, Jr. is the Don Demetrio Tuason Professor of Agribusiness. He teaches in the Master in Development Management (MDM) program. His areas of specialization include Social Marketing, Development Communication, Corporate Social Responsibility, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, and Information Technology. He spent the early years of his career as a broadcast journalist and documentary filmmaker. After his stint as a broadcaster, Professor Lopez managed an organization selling equipment to the broadcast industry. In 1981, he helped establish International Good Housekeeping, Inc., today a large consumer product and marketing organization and was until 1986, its General Manager. He also spent a year in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States between 1984-1985 to establish a Chinese fast food chain, a direct-mail advertising company and a computer consultancy firm. In 1988, he served as Undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Executive Director of the National Agricultural and Fisheries Council, DA for four years. In the Department, he handled the implementation of a major livelihood promotions program; managed commodity assistance programs including fertilizer and pesticides, soya bean meal, livestock and agricultural implements; and oversaw a consultative structure linking the department and its agribusiness constituencies in every municipality in the Philippines. Professor Lopez is currently involved in hotel-resort development as well as other tourist-oriented ventures. He is the President-CEO of the Club Noah Group of Companies which operate the world famous Club Noah-El Nido Resort and the new Club Noah-Isabelle both in Northern Palawan Philippines. He also sits on the board of several other marketing and trading organizations in the Philippines and the U.S. Professor Lopez is a Master in Management graduate of the Asian Institute of Management.
