RESOURCE PERSONSDr. Ronny ADHIKARYA Dr. Ronny Adhikarya is presently Senior Training Officer at the Knowledge Products and Outreach Division (WBIKP) of the World Bank, in Washington D.C., USA, where he also serves as the Manager of the Knowledge Utilization through Learning Technologies (KULT) Program. Prior to joining the World Bank, he served for 15 years for the United Nations/Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy, as a senior-level specialist in charge of extension, education, and training methodologies. During his assignment with FAO, he worked with a wide network of training/educational institutions and development specialists in many developing countries where he was involved in training, education, and communication programs in the areas of sustainable agricultural development, environment, population, health/AIDS prevention, etc. He also pioneered FAO's electronic publishing activities and advocated the applications of micro-computer technologies in agricultural extension and training. Dr. Adhikarya received his Master's degree in 1972 from Cornell University and obtained his Ph.D. degree in communication from Stanford University, USA. He served as staff researcher and Fellow at the East-West Communication Institute, Hawaii; Visiting Professor at Science Univ. of Malaysia; research staff at the Institute for Communication Research, Stanford University, and also as consultant to various United Nations and other international agencies. During his more than 25-year career in international development, Dr. Adhikarya has worked and/or resided in 37 countries worldwide. Originally from Indonesia, he was an award-winning journalist in that country before he started his international development career. He has written seven books (one of which is available in electronic/PDF computer diskette and CD-ROM versions) on communication and extension/non-formal education subjects published in Germany, Italy, England, USA, Singapore and Malaysia.
