Phase-1
Phase-2
Phase-3

Phase-2

Peer Learning and Group Training
(10 days)

During Phase-2, participants will be engaged in the following activities:

  1. Study various interactive training and learning models using interactive technologies, and discuss issues and challenges of implementing a technology enabled curriculum. Similarities and differences between using interactive technologies to support distance learning and as tools to complement "conventional" face-to-face" or group training will be identified.

  2. Identify and discuss skills requirement for an online trainer/coach: content delivery, learner engagement strategies, facilitation and collaboration strategies, reflection and assessment.

  3. Review, assess and critique the various ILT tools and application programs which will be demonstrated to, and tried out by, the participants (through hands-on exercises using synchronous and asynchronous communication tools).

  4. Identify and discuss features, strengths and weaknesses of various interactive technologies for specific learning objectives, and the operational and management procedures for designing, producing and utilizing multi-media communication and materials (i.e., graphic, audio, video, simulation, animation etc.) in support of interactive and participatory learning strategies, process and methods.

  5. Identify practical problems and actual felt needs in improving training quality and discuss possible strategies for adapting or applying innovative learning technologies to resolve such problems.

  6. Analyze and discuss important management operation implications for incorporating ILT applications to support training activities, including resource (i.e., staff, time and cost) requirements.

  7. Write daily "journal" notes, by selecting the most practical and applicable concepts and tools which can be applied in improving their respective training programs. These ideas and principles will need to be incorporated or used to prepare a strategy or a work plan for implementing such activities at their own institutions during Phase-3 of this workshop.
