Advisory Panel

The objectives of the External Advisory Panel are to: bring to bear diverse perspectives in the conduct of IEG 's evaluation; serve as a sounding board for the design and findings of the evaluation as they emerge; and add authority and credibility to the findings. The four-member Panel was selected on the basis of: (i) outstanding professional credentials; (ii) leadership role among key stakeholder groups; (iii) breadth of interests and expertise in key areas; and (iv) understanding of the World Bank's role and operations. The Panel will be convened at critical points of the evaluation to advise on the evaluation design, comment on preliminary findings and intermediate outputs, and review and comment on the final synthesis report.

Advisory Panel Members:

  • Helene Gayle, Director, HIV/AIDS, TB and Reproductive Health, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle, USA
  • Mary Muduuli, Deputy Secretary to the Treasury, Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, Kampala, Uganda
  • Jeffrey O'Malley, Country Director, Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), New Delhi, India
  • Mechai Viravaidya, Senator and Chairman, Population and Community Development Association, Bangkok, Thailand

The Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) is an independent unit within the World Bank; it reports directly to the Bank's Board of Executive Directors. The goals of IEG 's evaluations are to draw lessons from Bank experience, and to provide an objective basis for assessing the results of the Bank's work.
