Faced with increased global competition, the countries of the MENA region now must make important decisions that will affect their development prospects. The dialogue on competitive advantage, at both the national and regional level, needs to be broadened. Such a dialogue could foment a better understanding of the role of the government, the private sector, NGOs, and opinion makers in creating an enabling environment for innovation and international competitiveness.
