IEG mission
statement: Enhancing development effectiveness through
excellence and independence in evaluation
IEG at-a-glance
IEG is an independent unit within the World Bank. It reports directly
to the Bank's Board of Executive Directors. The goals of IEG 's
evaluations are to draw lessons from Bank experience, and to provide
an objective basis for assessing the results of the Bank's work. IEG improves Bank work by identifying and disseminating the lessons
learned from experience and by framing recommendations drawn from
its evaluation findings.

impact. Project Performance Assessment Reports (PPARs), are carried
out from one to seven years after Bank funds have been fully disbursed
to projects and are the main project-level evaluations undertaken
by IEG .
