| This conference will introduce a number of current issues related to evaluation and results measurement. It will also highlight recent progress and identify constraints in measuring results and development effectiveness in the World Bank and other government and development organizations. Speakers will explore and share experiences and challenges in evaluation both in individual projects and more complex programs.
The conference will feature three sessions. The first will address the question "Is there a "State of the Art" in measuring development effectiveness ?" The second and third sessions will be panel discussions focusing on concrete examples on measuring the impact of development programs in Health and Environment.
The panels will also address the questions: "What constitutes good practice in measuring the development effectiveness of health/environment projects and programs? How are countries and the donor community doing? What is needed going forward?"
Key speakers include: Michael Quinn Patton, former Head American Evaluation Association; Sulley Gariba, Institute for Policy Alternatives, Accra, Ghana; and Sunita Narain, Director, Centre for Science Environment, New Delhi India.
