IEG Good Practice Awards: 2005 Winners

Implementation Completion Report (ICR) Award

Winner

ICR for the Mali Third Structural Adjustment Credit III

Reason for Selection

The ICR helps the reader understand the context in which the project was designed: the crisis in Mali's cotton sector that occurred in the midst of the country's economic and political transition, and in anticipation of regional economic integration. It shows how the project was relevant to these development needs as well consistent with the IMF's support program. As is appropriate for an adjustment operation, the ICR contains an extensive discussion of macroeconomic performance. The ICR is well-argued and concise, provides strong supporting evidence for its ratings, and draws useful lessons.
