IEG Good Practice Awards: 2004 Winners

Project Award

Winner

Armenia Rehabilitation Credit

Reason for Selection

The Bank performed well in a difficult environment: the country was just emerging from the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and the Bank had to contend with a post-Soviet bureaucracy. Bank staff worked closely and flexibly with the government to identify and overcome obstacles and keep a focus on development impact. This project laid the foundation for the country's successful reform and macroeconomic stabilization program.
