The evaluation team conducted surveys of
delegates attending (i) the 13th International
Conference on AIDS and STDs in Africa (ICASA),
in Nairobi, Kenya, in September 2003 and
(ii) the World Bank Human Development (HD)
Forum in Maryland, in November 2003. The
survey questionnaires asked delegates whether
they'd ever heard of or read selected Bank
publications on HIV/AIDS. For any publications
that had been read, respondents were asked
to rate the technical quality and usefulness
of the publication in their work. The survey
also captured the respondents' demographic
characteristics and use of two Bank-sponsored
AIDS Web sites.
Methodology:
International Conference on AIDS and STDSs in Africa (ICASA) Survey:
The
evaluation team conducted a survey of delegates
attending the 13th International Conference
on AIDS and STDs in Africa (ICASA), in Nairobi,
Kenya, in September 2003. The survey questionnaire
(in English and French) asked delegates
whether they'd ever heard of or read twelve
selected Bank publications on HIV/AIDS.
For any publications that had been read,
respondents were asked to rate the technical
quality and usefulness of the publication
in their work. The survey also captured
the respondents' demographic characteristics,
access to the internet, and use of two Bank-sponsored
AIDS Web sites.
A numbered evaluation questionnaire was included in each of the 6,000 registration packets for the conference and the completed questionnaires were collected at the UNAIDS/World Bank booth throughout the event. A total of 465 completed questionnaires were received.
