Papua New Guinea 1996 Household Survey |
The 1996 Papua New Guinea Household Survey provides individual level and household level socio-economic data from 1,396 households. This survey was carried out as part of a World Bank Poverty Assessment by John Gibson of the University of Waikato.
The unit of observation for the demographics, education, income sources, anthropometrics and health sections of the survey is the individual; and for food consumption, housing conditions, agricultural assets, and household food stocks the unit of observation is the household. There are also community level data on community assets; changes in economic activity, infrastructure, and services; education; health; distance to the nearest local government; transport and communications; and prices.
All data files and necessary supporting documentation can be downloaded from the Net. To obtain the data, first read the sections describing the formats of the data and documentation, then fill in the 'Data Use Agreement Form', and finally download the data and documents.
