The Shanghai Conference

In an historic gathering in Shanghai, China, in May, heads of state from around the world publicly declared their support to increase global efforts to reduce poverty. The participants considered concrete actions to accelerate progress on the development agenda. As Mr. Wolfensohn put it, there was no silver bullet – no single way to achieve the objectives. The conference, however, highlighted 100 case studies showing identifiable poverty solutions that worked and could be applied around the world.
