Mass media are an obvious channel for providing essential
information about how HIV spreads, high-risk behaviors, HIV
testing and treatment. In India, where the World Bank has
long supported the national response to HIV, the media is
diverse and dynamic, with an extensive reach. Many HIV
programs and projects including those financed by the World
Bank have communication strategies and budgets for working
