From 2011 – 2012, Dr. Annamalai served as Undersecretary, Economic and International Division of the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia. Prior to that, he held other senior positions in the Ministry of Finance: Head of Econometrics Section; Head of Unit – Privatization and Corporate Loans; and Assistant Secretary – Development Finance Unit (ADB/World Bank). Dr. Annamalai also served as Senior Program Coordinator at the Business Management/ Privatization Unit of the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN).
Dr. Annamalai started his career at the Ministry of Public Enterprises in 1982 as an Assistant Secretary before joining the Ministry of Finance in 1984.
Dr. Annamalai graduated with his Doctorate degree from the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan; his MBA (Finance) degree from the Michigan State University, Michigan, USA; Bachelor of Laws (LLB), University of London, UK; Bachelor of Science (Maths/Physics), University of Science, Malaysia; Diploma in Public Management, INTAN, Malaysia; and a Certificate in Legal Practice, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
