Egypt: 72 percent of Healthcare Costs are Out of Pocket

In the last 20 years, Egypt’s population has become healthier, with an increase in overall life expectancy from 64.5 years to 70.5 years. Yet, 72 percent of all healthcare costs are covered out of pocket despite that more than half of the population has access to some form of health insurance.
