A single road connects half of Kiribati’s population but is now in poor condition. The road has become increasingly difficult to travel on. Dangerous driving, excessive dust, and flooding from rain and high tides culminate in serious risks to the lives and well-being of residents. A project has started to improve the road, and is expected to bring about safer travel conditions and improve the lives of people living alongside it.
